　　A brief preface to the kalimba

　　Kalimba is an African public instrument with publiccharacteristics.Kalimba has different names in different African countries. For illustration, Kalimba is Kenya's name for the instrument, while in Zimbabwe it's called Mbira. The Congolese call it Likembe.

　　It got its name substantially from the use of the thumb to move the thin slices on the body of the instrument ( substantially made of wood, bamboo and, in ultramodern times, essence). Traditional kalimba USES gourds to make resonators.

　　The sound corridor of the carimba are elastic essence strips of different lengths on the top, and wood or gourd melon is used as a sound box on thebottom.In the history, these strips were made from only molten essence in ore, but now they're made from advanced- quality sword.

　　Carimba has numerous different shapes and the number of sword bars isn't certain. (17 crucial kalimba, 15 crucial kalimba, 8 note kalimba) in Zimbabwe, for illustration, the kalimba is a indirect rustic sound box with 22 to 28 sword bars arranged in tworows.The instrument is said to be one of the most popular instruments in Zimbabwe because its music is said to banish evil spirits from the sick and to supplicate for rain.
